Getting Fit this 2012

Fitness is almost always on top of people's new year's resolution list, an could also be the toughest to keep. Most would definitely want to lose weight, be fit and live a healthy lifestyle. To achieve this it takes more than simple wishing. One must make a more specific goal to succeed in modifying your lifestyle.

Target a More Specific Fitness Goal

Rather than making general a general goal like "I resolve to lose weight this 2011", try to break this goal down into specific action steps. Since you want to lose weight this year, make it a point to write down the simple steps on how you intend to do this. You might write down as a subheading no.1- consult a doctor for proper guidance on best fitness activity and nutrition.

You should also write down the time you will spend for your fitness project, either per day or per week. A regular physical or exercise of 30 minutes per day for three to four times per week would be a good start.

Then, make sure to have room for failures and setbacks or more of a plan B when your plan A fails. For instance, think of a situation when you cannot do your fitness activity for a week due to a busy schedule, would this be enough for you to give up? Of course not. Resolve this by either working harder or longer the following week to make up for your previous slow or no-activity week.

Make a Mental Picture of a Fitter You

The brain is one powerful organ and when you try to make use by the use of mental imagery every time you aim for a goal, you are assured of more success. Make it a habit to bombard your brain with mental images of a fitter or more slimmer you. All it takes is a little imagination and a bit of daydreaming to conjure this image. You can add more effect by making a mental picture of your current state versus a fitter and ideal image of you having that target weight. Indeed, the mind can do wonders and only a few makes use of this helpful tool. You can achieve that fitness resolution in more ways than one and using a mental picture to encourage and keep you on track is a great trick.

Commit Until You Get Your Target

Commitment is the hardest thing to do but it spells the difference between a half-hearted new year's resolution and one that is realized. Committing to achieve your target means that you are willing to give your time and effort to make your target. It also means the discipline to stay on track despite setbacks and disappointments. It means prodding on even when your family and friends do not support you. It means really sticking to your plan to stay in shape no matter what the odds are. Commitment means never giving up on that fitness new year's resolution.
